The Rudyard Lake Trust

Ray Perry, Chairman of The Rudyard Lake Trust has contacted us to thank you all for the last few weeks of voluntary work that you have completed at the site and would like to make the Memorial Garden attraction at the lake, where our students have been volunteering, an attraction to be proud of and for Kinetic Academy students be take some owenership of.  This is a great reflection of all the good work that you have completed and that it is very much appreciated by all – well done folks!! Inspector Calls at the Regent Theatre

14th Cotober 2015

Students went to see an Inspector Calls at the Regent Theatre as part of their GCSE literacy study.  All who attended thought that the experience was fantastic and that whilst they enjoyed the theatre production, the whole ambience (including the popcorn!)

Work Experience

Amanda McGrath will be speaking to all students over the next few weeks, to identify potential work experience placements and how the Year 11’s can help to plan their transitions from Kinetic Academy at the end of the academic year – good planning is essential to ensure that you can get on the courses/apprenticeships that you are looking for, and help to guide you in terms of what grades and qualifications you need to work towards to make sure you are successful.  Last year 100% of our students obtained a well planned and managed transition into either, college, […]

WELL DONE!!

WELL DONE all students who sat their GCSE’s during the Summer 2015!! You all did really well and deserve a huge “pat on the back”!!  Certificates will be sent out in the post to you all when they arrive.  This year has seen a big improvement in Maths with over 90% pass rate.

– make sure that you bring the right clothes and that you are prepared to work hard!!  Amanda has organised a range of activities for you to complete at the site including wiring brushing  in preparation for painting the railings of the memorial and raking away the grass!! – all good stuff which you can add to your CV!

Exam Revision Times

Over the coming months of May and June 2015, our students will be sitting GCSE exams.  To help students reach their fullest potential, we are offering a number of revision and catch up sessions over the Easter holidays and on Saturday mornings until the end of the GCSE exams in June 2015.

A list of dates and times for the above revision periods/catch up sessions is below – Parents are asked to encourage their child to attend as many of these sessions as possible, in order to help them prepare as much as possible for these upcoming exams.

Keele Community Day Sunday 31st May 2015

Keele University will again be opening up its 630-acre woodland campus on Sunday 31st May 2015 for a family friendly Community Day from 1pm – 6pm.

Details of this special event are provided on the attached poster.  The Keele University Community Day is a free of charge, fun day out providing a wide programme of recreational, educational and entertaining activities and experiences for all ages.

Unit 12 Art Gallery

Kinetic Academy students attended a creative and inspiring two day visit to Unit 12 Art Gallery located in Tixall, Staffordshire. Students participated in the construction of everyday objects such as birdhouses, cakes and tea set, made from recycled materials.

Students learnt a number of artistic techniques such as bonding, waxing and stitching unusual fabrics and papers, from gallery owner Jennifer Collier.

Students left with a sense of achievement and creativity.
